Why Belief in Your Staff Improves Business Success

The success of your business can rise and fall based on the team you put in place. But what if I told you that choosing the right people was only part of having a great team? You can have the smartest person running the operations for you, but if you don’t believe in them then not only will their performance drop, they probably won’t stick around for very long. Taking the time to demonstrate to your staff that you trust them and you believe in their abilities is one of the best time investments you can make as a business owner. There are some easy things you can put in place that show your staff you value them as much as you value their input in your business.

Get to Know Them Outside of Work

Taking note of what your staff like to do outside of work and talking about it with them is one of the simplest ways you can show your staff you care about them. Knowing the sport they like to watch or participate in and the teams they follow is an easy way to engage with them on a personal level. Music, movies and hobbies are another great way to connect with them on non-work-related items.

Give Them a Helping Hand

Helping your staff out at moments when they need it is a fantastic way to show you value them, and can mean very little output from you. As an example, you could have a team member that has a child and during school holidays they have a gap of an hour where they can’t have someone mind them. Offering for them to come into the office for that time will help your team member out and it’s something that they won’t forget. Likewise, letting a team member attend a doctor’s appointment during work times can also show your trust in them.

Be Honest and Upfront with Your Team

A great way to build trust and show you believe in your team is by being open with them. This will show your team that you trust them with important information and it also can aide you at times when you need a helping hand in decisions in the business. Your team know your business as well as you and can offer insight that you might not have otherwise thought of.

Make a Celebration out of the Little Things

Don’t let anyone tell you that the little things don’t matter… they do. Make a point of celebrating the positive feedback that comes into the business about your team. By demonstrating their contribution to the business will show them that you appreciate them and will encourage the rest of your team to push themselves to contribute more too.

There are lots of different ways to show your team that you believe in them and you appreciate their contribution, and what sits at the bottom of almost all of them is recognition. Finding ways to do this as much as possible can ensure your business of success.
