53. Implementing Automated Systems, Adapting To Changes In Customer Communication Methods and Embracing AI Technology with Shaye Illich

We’re entering the innovation zone here at That Bad Review. There are so many exciting changes occurring within the industry, and knowing the best route to take in order to benefit our businesses the most, can be a difficult feat.

Each Monday, join Adrian Easdown as he has enlightening chats with successful folks in the hospitality industry around Australia. If you’re involved in any way with caravanning, running a restaurant or working with any other sort of hospitality-based business, this podcast is perfect for you.

Shaye Illich, the Business Development Manager at NewBook, joins me for this week’s episode of That Bad Review. Shaye has always had an interest in the hospitality industry, and began her career the second she left school. Her love of snow sports saw her following the winter season right across the globe, initially working as a hotel receptionist to pay for her passion. Before long she had climbed the ranks to become an accomplished assistant manager, but after a decade of snow fuelled travel, she wanted to settle down and moved to the Gold Coast. Shaye worked remotely in hotel reservations as well as sales and marketing, taking on NewBook for their PMS and CRM software, but her deep interest in how they operate pulled her towards starting a new career as part of their team.

In this episode, we discuss some of the big changes occurring within the industry, particularly around booking systems and business to client communications. We also look at the Tourism Innovators Conference 2019, and what you should be doing to achieve that ‘wow’ factor within your business.

Also within this episode:

  • Shaye’s back story and how she got into the industry
